get started?
A...Just reply to the initial message you get with your
own first message (remember first impressions count - so make it fun!). We'll
pass it on to five people, and you might also get messages from other SMS Text
Chat Mates who want to chat to people like you.
Q...How do I reply to messages?
A...Every message you receive
will have the ID number (NOT the mobile phone number) of the person you're
talking to. When you want to reply, start your message with that ID number and
we'll do the rest.
Q...What type of mobile phone do I need?
A...The service works with
all UK mobile phones. If your phone can send and receive SMS messages, you can
become an SMS Chat Mate.
Q...Can people get my mobile number?
A...No, we will not give your
mobile number our to any other clients - and we recommend you keep your
anonymity both for safety reasons (SEE SAFETY TIPS) and because it's all part
of the fun. To reply to messages you've received, just make sure you start the
message with the ID number of the person you're texting and we'll pass the
message on.
Q...How do I get more credits
A...When you need more SMS
credits just phone your usual SMS Text Chat Mates number, choose the top-up
option and tap in your ID number (or your mobile number if you've forgotten
your ID number). The credits clock up as you stay on line, and you might win
extra credits too by answering special quiz questions.
Q...Do I pay for the SMS credits.
A...You pay for us to pass on
your messages by phoning the premium rate SMS Text Chat Mates line, which costs
£1 a minute. You also pay your normal SMS fee for the
messages.
Q...Why use a landline?
A...Unfortunately most mobile
operators add a surcharge when you phone our ordering line, so we recommend you
use a landline.
Q...How old to I have to be to join in the fun?
A...Sorry, but you have to be over 16 to use this service. If you are younger
than that, we will not let you register.
Q...What happens if I receive an abusive message?
A...Please contact us immediately if
you receive an abusive message. We will check it out and deal with it as
quickly as we can.
You must be over 16 to use this service.
Calls cost £1 per minute at all times. We recommend that you call from a
landline as some mobile operators charge more for this type of call. Please
